Salary range - $120,000 - $140,000 per year plus benefits

The successful Hydro Project Engineer will serve as a vital link between engineering and project management, overseeing all technical activities in collaboration with the Engineering, Procurement, and Installation teams. This role acts as the primary technical contact for the project team and reports to the Project Manager within the team structure.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee costs, delivery schedules, quality, and targets for assigned systems (e.g., generators, turbines, penstocks, gates, electrical power systems, or other designated components).
- Contribute to the development of the overall project timeline and work breakdown structure.
- Prepare purchase requisitions and participate in supplier negotiations.
- Manage and monitor the entire process from design conceptualization to component delivery at the site.
- Validate and approve supplier production schedules.
- Handle technical clarifications with customers and suppliers.
- Plan and lead design review meetings and manufacturing kick-offs.
- Compile, assess, and approve required documentation, ensuring compliance with cost, schedule, and quality standards.
- Prepare and submit technical deliverables.
- Organize and facilitate technical meetings.
- Ensure accurate interpretation of technical specifications and contractual expectations by stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and Procurement Department to define the technical strategy and supply plan.
- Participate in the selection, negotiations, and technical discussions with key suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ensure timely delivery of engineering outputs and supplies that meet established quality criteria.
- Address non-conformance issues and manage change requests with customers, vendors, and engineering teams.
- Work with the Project Manager to analyze, plan, and implement contingency measures to address issues or deviations impacting the project.

Skills/experience required include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (preferred)
- At least 5 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years in design related to mechanical, electrical, or hydroelectric systems, with a focus on industrial equipment, power systems, or similar large-scale infrastructure projects
- Minimum 3 years of experience in hydroelectricity or related design and manufacturing activities
- Proven experience in technical coordination of engineering tasks and subcontracting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Background in manufacturing or heavy industrial design
- Proficiency in 3D/2D CAD design
